To celebrate Appleton Estate’s 250th anniversary, Master Blender Joy Spence created this exceptional single estate Jamaican aged rum. It’s a blend of pot and column still rums, aged for at least eight years in Jamaica’s tropical climate using the finest casks.

Appleton Estate 8 Year Old Reserve Rum greets you with the enticing aroma of ripe tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and hints of sweet banana, mingled with vanilla and delicate oak. Subtle notes of honey and caramel add depth and complexity.
On the palate, you’ll discover layers of toasted oak, spicy cinnamon, and nutmeg, balanced by the natural sweetness of sugarcane and a touch of orange zest for a refreshing citrus finish.
Originally created in 1944 by Victor Bergeron who first used Appleton Estate Rum to create this now iconic cocktail. The story goes that he crafted the drink for some friends visiting from Tahiti. Upon tasting it, one of them exclaimed, “Maita’i roa ae!” which means “Out of this world!” or “The best!” in Tahitian. Thus, the Mai Tai was born.
