Your trips are about to get a camera crew. The DJI Neo 2 is the drone for people who don't want to learn drones. It takes off from your palm, follows you with no controller in your hand, dodges obstacles on its own, and lands back in your palm when it's done. You hike, ride, surf, or just wander off from the campsite, and it films you doing it in crisp 4K. It's the closest thing yet to having your own aerial camera operator who never asks for lunch.
At just 151 grams it's genuinely tiny, with full-coverage propeller guards and omnidirectional obstacle sensing plus forward-facing LiDAR, so even a total beginner can fly it with confidence. ActiveTrack follows you at up to 12 metres per second, there's a dedicated Cycling Follow mode, and gesture control means you can direct it with your hands like some kind of wizard. SelfieShot grabs solo and group shots hands-free, and MasterShots and Dolly Zoom do the fancy cinematography for you.
The footage holds up too: a 12MP 1/2-inch sensor on a 2-axis gimbal shooting 4K at 60fps, 4K slow motion at 100fps, with 49GB of internal storage built in so there's no memory card faff. And this is the Fly More Combo, the proper package. You get the RC-N3 remote controller for full manual flying, the digital transceiver for stable long-range video, THREE batteries, and a two-way charging hub, so you're looking at nearly an hour of combined flight time per outing instead of 19 minutes. Campsite flyovers, van-on-the-coast-road shots, the kids' first surf lesson from above. Whoever wins this is about to make everyone else's holiday videos look rubbish.
Takes off from your palm, lands back in your palm, and follows you with no controller in your hand. ActiveTrack keeps you in frame at speeds up to 12 metres per second, with a dedicated Cycling Follow mode for the bike rides.
Omnidirectional obstacle sensing plus forward-facing LiDAR and full propeller guards. Beginner-safe out of the box, confident around trees, branches, and the odd overexcited dog.
A 12MP 1/2-inch sensor on a 2-axis gimbal shooting 4K at 60fps, 4K slow motion at 100fps, and 2.7K vertical. RockSteady stabilisation keeps it smooth even when you're not.
Enough built-in storage for a full day of shooting without once thinking about memory cards. Shoot first, offload later.
151 grams, well under the 250g threshold. Still carries a serious camera for its size, with full propeller guards and the smart modes to go with them.
The complete package: the RC-N3 remote for manual control, the digital transceiver for long-range transmission up to 10km, three batteries, and a two-way charging hub. Nearly an hour of combined flight time per outing.
The Neo 2 is DJI's answer to 'drones are too complicated'. Palm takeoff, auto-follow, auto-landing. Full-coverage guards and obstacle sensing so you don't put it in a tree. And a camera that holds up to the ones on actual production rigs. For van life, for the kids' first surf lesson, for the drone shot of the coast road you've been imagining since you bought the van, this is the one that actually gets flown.
One winner takes home the Fly More Combo worth £349. Please note: UK law requires drone operators to register with the CAA for an operator ID before flying a camera drone outdoors. It's quick and costs a few pounds a year. The Neo 2 is not waterproof, and DJI recommends it for ages 16 and over. Good luck.
