Matusalem Rum Gran Reserva 15 | 3306!
Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 is the flagship of one of rum’s most storied names.
The Camp brothers founded Matusalem in Cuba in 1872. The family later moved production to the Dominican Republic, where the rum is still made today.
It is known as the “Cognac of Rums”, and it is made using the Solera method, a technique borrowed from sherry in which rums of different ages are blended through French oak barrels.
The core blend averages 15 years. The result is a dark golden, amber-copper rum with a dry, woody character. The nose is rich with toasted dried fruit, vanilla and caramel.
The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with oak, cocoa and brown spice, and the finish is long and warming. It is low in sugar for the category, so it suits sipping neat or over ice. It also works in an Old Fashioned or other spirit-forward cocktails.
