Old Particular Strathclyde 16 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky Rare Grain Glasgow Distillery Single Cask | 3277!

This competition introduces a “low cost, low ticket concept” with a unique element called the **”insurance bottle.”** Its primary goal is to ensure more people win whisky prizes every week.

Here’s a breakdown of how it operates:

* **Eligibility for the Insurance Bottle:** Only participants who have purchased a ticket for the competition *and* have not already won a “main prize” on that draw day are eligible for the insurance bottle draw. This excludes winners of “Buyer Bottle” and “Free Entry Into” prizes.

* **What if you win a main prize?** If you’ve won a main prize but also have tickets in the insurance competition, your tickets for the insurance draw will be automatically **refunded** to your wallet. You can then use these refunded funds for future draws.

This setup seems designed to offer a win-win scenario, either by providing an extra chance to win for those who haven’t yet, or by refunding tickets to main prize winners.

A rare 16 Year Old aged single grain from a Glasgow distillery rarely seen bottled in its own right. From Douglas Laing’s Old Particular range comes a genuinely uncommon Single Grain Scotch Whisky from the Strathclyde distillery – founded in 1927 in the Gorbals district of Glasgow, and one of Scotland’s largest grain distilleries.

Strathclyde’s spirit is destined almost entirely for blends, making single-grain bottlings extremely rare – independent releases like this one are essentially the only realistic way to experience it as a single grain.

Distilled in November 2005 and matured for sixteen years in a single refill barrel, it was bottled in November 2021 at its natural strength – yielding just 246 bottles. Nose: Subtly and sweetly spiced, with burnt mixed citrus tones and cereal-based grist. Palate: Distinct burnt orange zest with an unusual drift of smoke, ahead of fruit toffees. Finish: The hint of smoke lingers alongside cereal and sugary cinnamon-dusted baked apples.

Bottled at 48.4% ABV natural strength, with no colouring and no chill-filtration, this is single-cask Scotch presented exactly as it rested in the cask – nothing added, nothing taken away.

Each bottle is drawn from one barrel alone (ref. DL15406), making this a singular expression that won’t be repeated. Created by Douglas Laing & Co., an independent, family-founded Scotch whisky house established in 1948, the Old Particular range celebrates exceptional single casks from across Scotland – selected, matured and bottled by a house with over 75 years of expertise.

Presented in its signature Old Particular gift tube, this 16 year old Strathclyde is a real find for the aged-grain enthusiast: rare Glasgow single grain, gently smoke-tinged, at an honest price point. One cask. 246 bottles. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
