It's a 1988 Lada Riva 1600 SLX!

Can't get much squarer than an old Lada! Based on an ancient Fiat design and built in Russia these old things were being sold in the UK until the late 90's and sold in Europe for another decade later. Spare parts availability is superb, just about every part is still available and relatively cheap, these cars are a whole lot easier to keep going and maintained than a lot of other cars of a similar age.

This Lada Riva until very recently was parked up in a dry garage for 30 years with just 23k miles on the clock and after a light recommissioning it was back on the road!

Many consumable parts have been replaced and it has MOT until November 2026. Bodywork is straight, it's never had any welding and doesn't require any although it does have some seam rash and surface rust on the chrome bumpers which may need attention at some point. 

The SLX model features the 1.6 petrol engine with 5 speed manual gearbox, chrome bumpers and grille, tombstone seats, rev counter and probably some other minor alterations over the lower spec model.

It is very nice to drive for a Lada, steering box is great with no play, it's had new brakes all round and stops well enough and with a new carburettor fitted it drives absolutely spot on!

If you're looking for a low mileage and original Lada which drives nicely this is the car for you!
