WIN THIS GLASGOW 1770 AQUAVITAE LIMITED RELEASE!

Roy Duff recently celebrated eight years of his popular Aqvavitae YouTube channel. To mark this milestone, he approached his local distillery to collaborate on a bottling. The Glasgow Distillery Co worked with Roy to select three first-fill bourbon barrels, which were combined to create a small batch release of 550 bottles.

If you are wondering why the yield is smaller than one would expect from three casks, there’s a story there! Cask #280 was not prepared for sampling as it was found to contain only 50 bulk litres – three quarters of the cask had been lost over the eight years of maturation. At Roy’s insistence, they sampled the cask anyway, and found the liquid to be particularly sweet, viscous and oily. Whichever vatting they added it to, it lifted the sample, and thus it was chosen to be combined with two other first fill bourbon casks. These three barrels were filled on the 17th May 2017, married on 1st September 2025 and bottled on 1st October 2025, yielding 550 bottles at Roy’s preferred strength of 55% ABV.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Green apples, boiled fruit candies, (think Fox’s Glacier Fruits), blackcurrants, coconut fondant and nettle tea.

Palate – Blackcurrant Chewits, coconut ice, chilli chocolate, light honey, green apple and eucalyptus.
