Offered here is an original Bronze Grade SA Sports Badge (SA-Sportabzeichen), one of the most recognisable awards issued by the Sturmabteilung (SA) during the Third Reich era.

AUTHENTICITY  GUARANTEED

Instituted in 1933, the SA Sports Badge was awarded to individuals who successfully completed a demanding series of physical fitness, endurance, and athletic tests designed to encourage physical preparedness and military-style discipline.

The reverse is clearly maker marked “W. REDO SAARLAUTERN,” identifying the manufacturer as Werner Redo of Saarlautern (now Saarlouis), a well-known producer of SA Sports Badges and other period awards.

Also present on the reverse is the inscription:

“EIGENTUM D. OBERSTEN SA-FÜHRUNG”

Translated, this reads:

“Property of the Supreme SA Leadership.”

This is a desirable marking found on officially produced examples and is an important authentication feature for collectors.

The bronze grade represented the entry level of the award, with recipients able to progress to silver and gold grades through continued qualification and achievement. Today, the badge remains a significant piece of historical militaria, valued for its distinctive design, historical importance, and strong collector appeal.

This example retains excellent detail to the oakleaf wreath, sword, and central emblem, with a clear maker mark and intact pin assembly to the reverse.
